Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Parent Drop Off/ Pick-Up

Utilize the entrance/parking lot on N. Surprise Farms Loop at the front of the school (facing north). Entrance to this lot will be on the west and cars will exit on the east. Cars may enter the lot approaching from both the west and the east and will merge into a single lane of traffic at the entrance.   Two drop off/pick-up zones have been established at this location to safely and efficiently move students to the right area on campus and to provide proper supervision. Procedures for each zone are listed below. After entering, the traffic will split into two lanes (there will be cones and a sign) directing cars into the appropriate drop off/ pick-up zone or parking area. After dropping off/ picking-up students, cars will merge back into one lane of traffic as they exit. Siblings will always be dropped off/ picked up together at the same location based upon the youngest student in the family. Older siblings will meet and wait in line with the youngest in the K-2 zone at dismissal.  We appreciate all our parents using our designed traffic patterns ensuring that we will provide a safe environment for our students as well as being good neighbors and considerate to those surrounding us in the community.

1)      K-2 drop off/ pick-up- Proceed straight ahead from the entrance to release and pick-up students in the designated zone (will be marked) only. Staff members will direct the students to the K-2 playground where they will remain until the bell and their teachers will pick them up. After drop off/ pick up you will re-enter a lane of traffic to exit and will be merged by a staff member.
2)      3-8 drop off/ pick-up and visitor parking - Veer left at the sign and proceed to the student drop off/ pick up zone or enter visitor parking (utilize the parking lot only if you have business to conduct in the school; students should not be walking through the parking lot or the drop off zone). A designated zone will be marked to release and pick up students in this area only. Students being dropped off will be directed through the school to the south playgrounds and remain there until the bell rings. Staff members will supervise the hallway leading to the south playground and the playground area.

Bus

The bus zone is located on the east side of the school along with staff parking.  No other traffic is permitted in this area and it cannot be utilized as a parent drop off/ pick up zone.
Arrival
K-2 - Proceed through the south playground around the back of the school until reaching the K-2 playground. Staff members will assist the younger students with the path.
3rd -8th - Proceed to the south playground and remain there until the morning bell.

K-2 -Teachers will walk students to the bus zone.
3rd -8th – Will be released and exit the building towards the south playground and then walk towards the bus zone.

Walkers/ Bicycle Riders
Canyon Ridge will have 4 crosswalks staffed by crossing guards allowing students to walk or ride their bike from any direction. Each cross walk is marked on the attached map. It is imperative that students use the crosswalks to ensure their safety. Our school also has entrances with close proximity to neighboring houses which students will need to be aware of and considerate, as they travel each day. The bike rack will be located at the back of the school by the basketball courts on the south playground.  In the morning K-2 students will remain on the K-2 playground until the bell when their teachers will pick them up and 3rd -8th grade students will remain on the south playground until the bell at which time they may enter the building.

At dismissal all K-2 walkers/bikers will be lined up by their teacher in the K-2 parent pick-up zone at the front of the school. Older siblings will pick up their younger siblings at this location.
