Bus Air Conditioning
All Dysart busses equipped with A/C
While state law does not require air conditioning on school busses, all Dysart busses are equipped with air conditioning. The air conditioning on each district bus is designed to lower the temperature 15 degrees. Depending on the outside temperature, district busses may feel cooler or hotter on any given day; however, the air conditioning on the bus is cooling the bus down 15 degrees. Students are asked to keep windows on the bus rolled up so as not to let out the cool air provided by the air conditioning system. The bus air conditioning system may not cool to the same as a car; it does keep students cooler than the outside temperature.

Safety Reminders

Pick Up and Drop Off Safety Reminders

Student safety is paramount to the success of all Dysart students and schools.  Ensuring that students are safe in all school environments is a priority for all Dysart staff.  To assist parents and students with student safety during the critical times of pick up and drop off, safety procedures in the parking lot and pick up and drop off lane are provided by each school.  Additionally, parents (when grandma or grandpa are transporting, be sure to share these procedures) and students should follow these guidelines:

·         When entering the school from the West and waiting to turn into the parking lot, please stay in the designated traffic lane; keep the bike lane open and make sure your car is not in the crosswalk.

·         When coming to the school from the East please adhere to all traffic laws including No Passing and the posted Speed Limit.  Remember that traffic fines double in school zones. The posted signs in the streets were placed there by the police.  PLEASE do not make any U-Turns.

·         Follow the direction of school personnel while dropping off or picking up students. Pay attention to our hand motions instead of determining when you will or will not move forward.

·         Students must enter and exit vehicles only on the curbside.  Please do not have students walk around vehicles to enter or exit a vehicle.

·         Parents and students are to cross the drop off lane only in designated areas.  At no time should students or parents weave in between cars while crossing the drop off lane.

·         When parking in the back parking lot during afternoon pick-up, please avoid walking in front of, or between the busses.  Please utilize the sidewalks for safety.

·         The front parking lot is not a designated drop-off or pick-up zone.  Students have to maneuver thru the pick-up lanes and oncoming traffic in order to cross.  Students are not permitted to cross through the traffic lanes at the crosswalks unless accompanied by an adult.

·         Please refrain from cell phone use in the drop off and pick up lanes. Parents who stay focused and attentive at this critical time will help in our transportation procedures.

·         The area where the walking gate is in the back of the campus is not a place for drop off and pick up.

·         Because grades 3 – 8 are picking up and dropping off in the back, parents of K – 2 and K – 2 Siblings, should avoid the use of 173rd Avenue.  Additionally, parents of  students in grades 3 – 8 should exit toward Paradise.

·         Follow the Entry and Exit signs.  PLEASE do NOT enter an exit.

·         When walking to and from school, students living south of Paradise Lane should safely cross at the designated crosswalk at Paradise and 173 Lane under the supervision of a crossing guard.  For the safety of our students, please do not cross at those areas where a crossing guard is not present.

Site Council

Canyon Ridge Site Council

Canyon Ridge School is currently seeking interested members for the 2010-2011 Site Council. This body consists of parents, teachers, administrators and community leaders. The council is responsible for the distribution of tax credit donations for extra-curricular activities. For this academic year, our efforts will focus on the continuation of athletic programs for our students.

Potential members will need to be available for meetings the second Tuesday afternoon of every month. As some council business is conducted electronically, access to the internet will also be necessary.

If you are interested in becoming a member, please submit your nomination by contacting Ms. Kellie Smith at kellie.smith@dysart.org or call the school office at (623) 523-8450. You also must attend the Site Council elections on     August 25, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the school library.
