Dear Parents and Guardians,
Parkview Elementary School is very excited to share with you our safety procedures for picking up your students. We are custodians of your children and would like you to know that this precaution we are taking is to keep our kids safe.
Parents or guardians who pick up the school's students are required to have a card in the dashboard that has the names of the children they will be picking up. You will find the dashboard card attached.
In order to fully utilize our large drop off area, the pick up area is down toward the multipurpose building (cafeteria). This will help alleviate the back-up of vehicles on Parkview Blvd. If you arrive early, please pull all the way up to the designated wait area. Do not get out of your car. Once teachers arrive for duty, they will begin calling student names and directing them to their designated pick up area. You will then be told to drive forward to pick-up location 1, 2, or 3. If your child is not out of the building, you will be asked to pull forward to the “wait” area or asked to park your car and come inside. There will be plenty of parking spaces available for parent parking in our front lot.
Please be advised that parents or guardians who do not have the card on the dashboard will be asked to park in the lot and go to the front office to provide identification before getting their child.
Some parents may choose to park in the lot upon arrival and walk to the student holding area to pick up students. We are asking these parents to carry the card (displaying their children’s names) with them to the student holding area.
What this means is that Parkview School needs parents' cooperation for this to go off smoothly. Some parents who don't use the dashboard cards might get frustrated if they are asked to park their cars and present ID in the school office, even though school dismissal staff knows who they are.
We hope parents understand this is nothing personal. This is just a way to strengthen school safety and alleviate the long line of vehicles waiting to pick up students. We have received the support of parent representatives on our school site council and have incorporated their recommendations into our parent pickup procedures.
If you have two or more students attending Parkview, please discuss the procedures with them. Please make sure that your children locate each other and remain in the student wait area until their name is called. Please carefully preview the attached map. This map should provide clarification as to the locations for students, vehicles, and teachers.
Thank you,
Parkview Elementary Staff
