  Meet the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians –

Over the summer lots of planning for the 2010 – 2011 school year has taken place.  I am looking forward to the many wonderful and exciting activities that will be occurring at Western Peaks throughout the new school year.

As we begin the year, we will be seeking replacements for several members on our Site Council.  If you are a parent or community member and would like to serve on this important school committee, please contact me.

The Western Peaks Site Council in collaboration with our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has embarked on building and enhancing business partnerships with local community vendors, businesses, and service organizations.  Plans are underway to create a plaque to proudly display the names of the Western Peaks Business Partners.  The plaque will hang in our office for all to see.  In addition, we will have certificates for our partners to display at their businesses to show other community members of their support of Western Peaks.

Our PTO has lots of great things planned for our students, families, and school.  They are actively seeking additional volunteers to serve in leadership roles.  Parent volunteers are also needed to share their time and talents in planning and helping with events.  We are also seeking ways to improve parent participation in our regularly scheduled PTO meetings.  Can you help? Are you available to volunteer?  If so, our PTO needs you and your support.

As the new school year begins, it is an excellent time to make a tax credit contribution to Western Peaks.  The Arizona Tax Credit program provides you with the opportunity to allow taxes you pay to be used to support our school’s extra-curricular activities.  At Western Peaks we have had the opportunity to support our after school band club, our choir program, tutoring and enrichment and so much more.  Your contributions make a huge difference for the students attending our school.  The Arizona Tax Credit Program is statewide.  Therefore we encourage parents to seek contributions for aunts, uncles, and other family members who reside in AZ, pay AZ State Taxes, and live outside of our community.  The best part of the Tax Credit Program is you get to decide how your tax dollars are to be used.  In addition, you receive a full credit on your 2010 state taxes when filed.  If you have questions, please feel free to call me so I can schedule time to meet and answer your questions.  Contributions must be made by December 31st of each year.  Forms are available on our Western Peaks website and in our school office. Please take a few minutes to complete the form and make a Tax Credit contribution so we can maintain and enhance our student programs that occur outside of the school day.  While you are at it, pick up some extra forms to send to close friends, relatives and neighbors so they too can support the Western Peaks Tax Credit Program.

The new 2010 – 2011 school year will begin very soon.  As you shop for new school clothes, please be sure to check the Dysart Unified District Dress Code policy via the Dysart.Org website.  This will insure your selection will be appropriate for school.  Also, for safety reasons, please remember students must wear closed toe and closed heel shoes while at school.  Please check the district and teacher websites for a list of school supplies.

On behalf of the Western Peaks administration, faculty and staff, I want to welcome you to the 2010 – 2011 school year. Please plan to visit our school to see all the excellent learning opportunities being offered by staff that is committed to excellence.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jean Hunt, Principal
