  Meet the Principal

Dear Students, Parents and

Community Members,

I would like to take a minute and introduce myself.  My name is Scott Kerr and I am very proud, honored and excited to be the new principal at Rancho Gabriela. I am married to my lovely wife, Kim, and have a daughter and four sons. I started my teaching career 20 years ago at what was then Dysart Jr. High. I taught Math and Computer Programming and was the head of Technology on two different high school campuses for the next 14 years.  For the last 4 years I have been an Assistant Principal at Valley Vista High School.

I am looking forward to meeting the excellent staff, students and parents at Rancho Gabriela over the next month. It is obvious that the staff has worked hard to achieve an excelling label for the past two years. I will continue to uphold what has been started: a safe and orderly campus that is conducive for learning academically, socially and behaviorally. We will continue to have high expectations for academic achievement and the promotion of good citizenship in a caring and warm environment.

There are several ways you can help your child succeed:

·        Ask your child what they are learning when they come home

·        Encourage your child to be involved in sports, activities, and clubs, thus enhancing their academic experience

·        Come to school activities

·        Keep in contact with your child’s teachers and monitor their grades

·        Participate in the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)

·        Participate in the Arizona State Tax Credit program by redirecting your state taxes directly to Rancho Gabriela

·        VOLUNTEER!!   Teachers always need your help!

Also, we will also be having a “ Meet the Principal” ICE CREAM Social Night: Thursday July 29th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in our cafeteria.  Our “Meet the Teacher” Night is on Thursday August 5th starting at 5:15 PM. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Scott Kerr
