Thompson Ranch After School Clubs!
21st Century Tutoring
21st Century tutoring has begun. We have tutoring classes for Kinder through 8th grade. We have also started our Shihon Martial Arts, Newspaper, Art and Ballet Folklorico Fun Friday activities.
Art Club
Ms. Murano's Art Club this year is held on Tuesday's after school. We have some outstanding plans to encourage exploration into the arts. So far we are making ceramic masks, planning our face painting for Paw Fest, Parent night, decorations for the choir, and drama events, and much more. Students in the sixth through eighth grade are encouraged to participate. This is an awesome way to be able to do some artwork that we may not be able to do during the regular art class. See you there!
Ballet Folklorico
Thompson Ranch Ballet Folklorico
Meets on Fridays at 3:45-5:15
We are a dance group that learns and performs dances from the different regions of Mexico. Our biggest performance is on Cinco de Mayo for our school and community. We are excited for a new year, new students and new dances.
Builders Club
We enjoy our time as we work together to clean up and recycle paper goods and cardboard at Thompson Ranch. As a service organization we will also collect foods for families in need around the holidays and go out to a local nursing home to entertain to the residents.
To help with our recycling project, please drop off your old newspapers and phone books in the white Lyon's bin by the parent pick up area in the parking lot or, drop them off to Mrs. Markoski in room 153. Any paper products you need to get rid of will help our school raise funds for additional projects.
New members from 6th -8th grade are always welcomed.
Choir Club
Ms. Chagolla's Choir Club will be meeting on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning 10/21/09 with no club on the 22nd of October. We will meet after school in the music room and be done at 5:15pm.
Drama Club
Drama Club will resume second semester with Ms. Winn. Ms. Winn hopes to see everyone in January that has signed up.
National Junior Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society will meet the third Wednesday of the month with Ms. Schooler. Meetings will be after school from 3:45-5:00 in room 233.
Rewards Club
Ms. Delgadillo is doing a REWARDS club. Her students work on reading and decoding skills. They hope to complete the program before Christmas break. It’s an intense study and the students who show up for tutoring everyday have devoted themselves to becoming better readers.
Science Olympiad Club
Thompson Ranch is proud to sponsor a Science Olympiad Club. Science Olympiad is a national organization which has competitions in every state, where the winners go to a national competition. Students compete on 23 events of Physical, Biological and Earth sciences. Students work individually and in teams to answer questions in areas such as anatomy and physiology, perform experiments in chemistry, build projects such as rube-goldberg apparatus, bridges, cars and catapults in competition of time, accuracy and efficiency against other students in their age bracket. Science Olympiad events are performed under specific rules which allows for fair and consistent competition of student to student. We are excited to show off the intelligence, ingenuity and competitive spirit of our Thompson Ranch students as they compete against other schools in the state. See Mr. Custer for more information on this amazing opportunity!
