ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

Arrival
  • Students are not to arrive on campus BEFORE 8:40 a.m.
  • Students may begin arriving at 8:40 a.m. and report directly to the classroom.

Exceptions for arrival times
  • When the activity sponsor schedules an early meeting, students may arrive earlier.

Parent Drop Off/Pick Up
Marley Park Elementary School does not have a designated parent drop off/pick up location. Parents who choose to drop off/pick up their students must park in a designated parking spot. The driveway in front of the school is an official fire lane and vehicles stopping or parking in the fire land may be ticketed by local law enforcement. Students may not be dropped off or picked up at any other place on campus. The staff parking lot located to the east of the school is an official bus loop, and may not be used to drop off/pick up students. The Department of Public Safety minimum standards state that it is not permissible to allow any other vehicles to operate in a bus loop while loading or unloading passengers.

Dismissal
Students are to leave campus as soon as the 3:45 p.m. bell rings. Both teacher and parent permission is required for students to remain on campus after 3:45 p.m. Students will need to be picked up NO LATER than 3:45 p.m. (2:45 p.m. on Mondays). Students not picked up promptly will be brought to the school office. Parents will be called.

We want Marley Park to be a warm and welcome place for all students and parents. At the same time, we have legal responsibilities, which must be met. When picking up your child(ren) at normal dismissal times, please wait outside the building in order to keep the hallways free and clear for student traffic. Please arrive as close to dismissal time as possible. These procedures are for the protection of your children and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these matters.

Student safety is of the utmost concern in our parking lot. We ask that you also display courtesy and thoughtfulness toward other drivers when you drop off/pick up students. Please be kind and courteous to our duty teachers. They are looking out for the safety of all of our students. Your patience and adherence to the pick up procedures will make this experience safe and pleasant for all.

Parents who park their vehicles in the parking lot must walk to the supervised area and escort the children to their car.

            Walkers
·         Walk on the sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk, use the left side, facing oncoming traffic.
·         Never run between parked cars.
·         All traffic laws must be observed. This includes crossing streets at marked crosswalks.
·         Obey all instructions/directions of the crossing guards.

Rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, go-peds, and wheeled shoes are prohibited on all Dysart Unified School District campuses. Schools will not store them. They are not to be brought to school. Students are expected to follow all local laws when traveling to and from school, and are encouraged to wear appropriate safety equipment.
