All Dysart busses equipped with A/C
While state law does not require air conditioning on school busses, all Dysart busses are equipped with air conditioning. The air conditioning on each district bus is designed to lower the temperature 15 degrees. Depending on the outside temperature, district busses may feel cooler or hotter on any given day; however, the air conditioning on the bus is cooling the bus down 15 degrees. Students are asked to keep windows on the bus rolled up so as not to let out the cool air provided by the air conditioning system. The bus air conditioning system may not cool to the same as a car; it does keep students cooler than the outside temperature.

Heat Issues at School
Heat issues at School
We are very fortunate that we have air conditioning and it appears to be working.  The afternoons have been getting hot and some of our rooms are warming up also.  We are investigating the cause with the goal of maintaining comfortable classroom temperatures throughout the entire day.

It is very hot during the lunch recess also.  The district has a policy that requires students return inside if it gets too hot.  We actually hit that on Monday August 23, 2010 after all of our recesses were over.   We will closely monitor the heat and care for your children.  Remind them at home to drink often when they come to school.

Heat issue with Busses
The A/C units on the buses are not like the one in a car.  They are designed to lower the temperature approximately 15 degrees.  So if it is 110 outside, the best we will get is 95 inside.  When the driver opens the door for the kids to load and unload, this lets out some of the cool air.  If the students lower the window, it lets out more cool air.  That is why the driver asks them not to lower the windows.  The driver has the A/C running prior to the students loading at the school to get the most out of the A/C.

This has been very hot lately with temps reaching 110+ degrees.  Fortunately this will not last much longer but in the meantime, rest assured that the driver is doing everything he/she can do to keep it cool.  After all, he/she is in that bus for 3-4 hours, so they too want it cool.

Parking Lot Safety Reminders

Student safety is paramount to the success of all Dysart students and schools. Ensuring that students are safe in all school environments is a priority for all Dysart staff. To assist parents and students with student safety in school parking lots, safety procedures in the parking lot and drop off lane are provided by each school. Additionally, parents and students should follow these guidelines:

·         Always proceed with caution in all school parking lots and drop off lanes
·         Follow the direction of school personnel while dropping off or picking up students
·         Students should only enter and exit vehicles on the curbside. Please do not have students walk around vehicles to enter a car or while exiting
·         Parents and students are to cross the drop off lane only in designated areas. At no time should students or parents weave in between cars while crossing the drop off lane
·         Students should be accompanied by parents while in the parking lot
·         Please adhere to school regulations and procedures for each individual parking lot and drop off lane
