Dear Parents,
The month of October is the perfect month to explore and solve mysteries! The scientific process is one way we can find
answers to the mysteries that surround us. At Cimarron Springs we utilize an inquiry based science program called FOSS (Full Option Science System). Kids are involved with hands-on
investigations of science concepts. Students are presented with a problem, then challenged to come up with creative solutions. Children of all ages have been using observational notebooks to record their findings. The First graders have been learning about plants and are preparing to plant miniature lawns, Fifth graders are dissecting owl pellets, Fourth graders are currently working with "Electricity!" - No pun intended! The students are excited to be exploring components and creating their own working series and parallel circuits. Next, the students will be applying their knowledge of magnets to make electric magnets! What can you do at home? The website fossweb.com has interactive activities that your child can enjoy.
Parent conferences are a wonderful time for teachers and students to share academic progress. We look forward to meeting with you in person on either October 22nd or 23rd. Please be looking for a conference sign-up sheet from your child's teacher.
The first Friday of each month we host Kids at Hope assemblies. During these assemblies, students are recognized with Kids at Hope certificates for showing positive character traits. We also recognize students for Perfect Attendance, Honor Roll, and Principal’s List every grading period! The basic premise of Kids at Hope is, “ALL KIDS ARE CAPABLE OF SUCCESS, NO EXCEPTIONS!”
Our Parent Teacher Organization, PTO, is sponsoring our Bookfair, "Reading Around the World” October 16 - 23. October 23, is Family Night, join us from 4 to 7pm!
The Student Council is sponsoring Red Ribbon Week, October 19 – 23rd. Please look for more information on the daily activities planned to celebrate being Drug Free!
Have a wonderful October and enjoy the beautiful weather with
your family!
