Read Across America, March 2, 2010
Read Across America is a day to celebrate reading. Our goal for this day is to stimulate an interest in reading across all grades, encourage community members to support our students by being a guest or a viewer of our activities and to demonstrate the collaborative nature of education throughout the metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona area.
We would like to expand our activities to include the community for this special day. Students from our four schools will participate in activities related to reading all day on a live Internet website. In order to demonstrate the collaborative nature of reading education, we intend to simultaneously broadcast the same type of program from Herrera Elementary School in downtown Phoenix, Glendale American Elementary School in Glendale, Cimarron Springs Elementary in Surprise, Nadaburg Elementary Schools in Wittmann/Surprise. Each school will broadcast throughout the dayParents and other relatives from anywhere in the world will be able to view the live broadcasts too.
You can access our Read Across America webpage from our Cimarron Springs’ Webpage or by going to http://bgoodman.com/RAA. This special webpage has links to all participating schools, so viewers can select the school they want to watch, and even view all the schools if they like. The website will also have the schedules for the day for the schools. This will allow parents and other viewers to find the classes they want to watch, and the broadcast time.
Dr. Kellis, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and Dr. Miller, Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services, have a pre-recorded reading with Ms. Rocha's class that will be streamed on Read Across America Day. Mrs. Moore, Assistant Principal will also have a pre-recorded reading. We welcome any other guest on the day of the event or by e-mailing Mrs. Goodman. lgoodman@dysart.org.
