PLEASE SLOW DOWN!

We are experiencing a high number of cars speeding through the Countryside Elementary parking lot before and after school.

Student safety is a high priority and we would like to remind everyone to SLOW DOWN when entering and exiting our parking lot.  Parking lot speed is 15 MPH.

As the weather cools and we are able to enjoy more time outside, we would like to remind parents and students of a few safety issues:

1)  Please remember that students may not be on campus before 7:50 am, as there is no adult supervision.  Gates are opened and breakfast begins at 7:50 am.

2)  Students who live west of Reems Road should not be allowed to walk or ride their bikes to and from school.  Busing is provided for all students in the Countryside boundaries living west of Reems Road.

3)  Student who utilize school transportation must ride the bus they are assigned to ride.  A parent note, approved by an administrator for a valid reason, is required for students to ride a bus other than the one they are assigned to ride.

4)  Please report any concerns about students at bus stops directly to the school assistant principal.  We will work the transportation department to address your concerns.

Parking Lot Safety Reminders

Student safety is paramount to the success of all Dysart students and schools.  Ensuring that students are safe in all school environments is a priority for all Dysart staff.  To assist parents and students with student safety in school parking lots, safety procedures in the parking lot and drop off lane are provided by each school.  Additionally, parents and students should follow these guidelines:

·        Always proceed with caution in all school parking lots and drop off lanes

·        Follow the direction of school personnel while dropping off or picking up students

·        Students should only enter and exit vehicles on the curbside.  Please do not have students walk around vehicles to enter a car or while exiting

·        Parents and students are to cross the drop off lane only in designated areas.  At no time should students or parents weave in between cars while crossing the drop off lane

·         Students should be accompanied by parents while in the parking lot

·        Please adhere to school regulations and procedures for each individual parking lot and drop off lane:

1) Speed Limit is 5 mph!
2) Pull forward in the drop off/pick up lane!
3) Do not leave your car in an unmarked parking space!
4) Children should always exit the car on the CURB SIDE of the vehicle.
5) Children are only allowed to cross traffic at the island by the crossing guard!
6) K-1 drop off is at the gate next to the library.
7) Grades 2-8 drop off -- please pull forward in front of the courtyard!
8) Kinder pickup is in front of the city of Surprise, please pull all the way forward and stay in your car!
9) Oldest children should join the youngest sibling for pickup.
10) Please be patient & respectful of others!
