It only takes a few seconds after entering Luke Elementary School for visitors to sense they have entered an exciting and vibrant learning environment. Luke’s unassuming exterior and low profile from Dysart Road reveal little of its dynamic interior. Every member of Luke’s faculty and staff are dedicated to the education and well being of all children in their care.







With an initial conversation with any staff member in the school office, visitors experience the warmth and personal touch that permeate the school. As visitors and volunteers move through the building, they first note either the library or activity room. Our library is 100% student centered with cozy reading areas and multiple avenues for student exploration of academic interests. Visitors never know what they might see when they turn the corner into our lively activity room. One might stumble upon PE classes, assemblies, programs, cheerleading practice, choir rehearsals, sports practices, student reward activities, grade level activities, well. . .you get the idea! With the walls surrounding this area covered with student work from each grade level and academic area, visitors realize what powerful learning goes on in a Luke classroom. From the proud first efforts of Kindergarten students to the proud results of an Eighth Grade service project, displays in this area tell the story of the remarkable dedication of Luke’s teachers and of students’ pride in their achievements. The Luke Faculty is one of the most diverse and talented faculties I have encountered in many years. These ladies and gentlemen love their profession and are truly here ‘for the children’. They love coming to work each day and enjoy each others company as colleagues and friends. These educators constantly strive to create the dynamic learning community that envelopes Luke students each day.







This is my eighth year at Luke Elementary, and each year I find myself embracing more and more the pride expressed in our student created school motto:
