Video production is offered at three of the four high schools in the district, with plans to add it to the fourth in the next two years. Video production is a very popular and important part of our curriculum, as it empowers students to learn communication and collaboration skills while being creative producers of content. Student created videos are shown on Dysart TV (Cox cable 99) daily.
The district also believes this opportunity is important for students in the lower grades as well, as has therefor included video production equipment in every K-8 building.
The district has set the following expectations for video production at each K-8 campus:
- Video production teams must include students in grades 7-8, but can include students at all grade-levels.
- All content must be created, edited and produced by students under the supervision of a certified staff member. All content must be original or royalty free. Copyrighted material such as music and pictures may not be broadcast using district resources.
- All content must be reviewed by a certified staff member prior to its air or distribution.
- All news programs will have a live feed as well as pre-recorded, edited content. (Productions must be more than students sitting in front of the camera reading the morning announcements, although this may be a component.)
